Bridal Jewelry Trends
Wedding season is here and when you think of wedding jewelry perhaps the first
thing that comes to mind is a sparkling ring. But there are other pieces of
wedding day jewelry that have to be taken into consideration for that big day.
Here now with a look at some of this year's hot trends for brides from the
International Gem and Jewelry Show.
From Antique Cut Diamonds to Fine Platinum Filigree, Vintage Styles Still
Winning Hearts of Brides-to-Be
When most people think of wedding jewelry, visions of sparkling rings dance
through their heads. But while rings are certainly the most important aspect of
wedding-day jewelry, other pieces from gorgeous bands to beautiful bracelets
will also have to be taken into consideration for that nuptial glow.
According to the International Gem and Jewelry Show, the hot trends for this
year's brides include:
Rings - What's old is new again in engagement rings. The revival of antique cut
diamonds, such as the cushion-cut or pillow cut, make for a lovely romantic and
classic look. The cushion-cut diamonds have rounded corners and larger facets to
increase their brilliance under candlelight.
Another vintage style that is very popular this wedding season is the filigree
engagement ring enhanced with geometric patterns, floral cutwork, and milgrained
edges offering the appearance of fine antique embroidery.
Bracelets - Thick cuffs of silver and gold sprinkled with gemstones are flashing
the runways of fashion. Tiny rhinestones or beads add an air of daintiness to
chunky designs of semi-precious stones. The look is wide and antique, with
brides walking down the aisle with family heirlooms on theirs wrists for an
old-fashioned, sentimental air.
Earrings and Necklaces -- The look in wedding jewelry is bold with chandelier
earrings dangling in diamonds, pearls, or even glass beads, evoking a glamorous,
Art-Deco look. Dramatic necklaces utilize the bigger-is-better theme, dripping
gemstones and setting off demure necklines.
